About Evan
Evan is a Partner and founding member of McGuire Law, P.C. His practice focuses on prosecuting consumer class action litigation in Illinois courts and state and federal courts throughout the country. Evan is a well-respected and highly experienced trial and appellate litigator who has handled all aspects of litigation, with over 22 years of litigation experience on both the Plaintiff and Defense side. Evan has been appointed Class Counsel in dozens of class state and national class actions involving, among other areas, consumer fraud, data privacy, auto defects, environmental, and telecommunications, resulting in hundreds of millions of dollars of recovery for hundreds of thousands of consumers. Evan has also successfully prosecuted class action lawsuits against major national banks for suspending home equity lines of credit in the wake of the financial crash, obtaining settlements restoring hundreds of millions of dollars in consumer credit lines.
Evan served as counsel of the record in the matter Campbell-Ewald Co. v. Jose Gomez, 136 S. Ct. 663 (2016), a case crucial to class action jurisprudence, where Evan helped secure important victories at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and at the U.S. Supreme Court. More recently, Evan and his McGuire Law colleagues secured the first-ever jury verdict in a matter involving the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, resulting in a $75 million class settlement.
Prior to joining McGuire Law P.C., Evan was Senior Counsel at a class action law firm based in Chicago and was a litigation associate at the national law firm now known as Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP. Additionally, Evan served as a judicial extern for the Hon. Wayne R. Andersen (Ret.) of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Evan has served as a member of the University of Illinois College of Law Chicago Program Advisory Board and has served as a firm liaison for the Chicago Bar Foundation Investing in Justice Campaign since 2011.
